The Facility is located on Ballyogan Road, Jamestown Townland, Carrickmines, Dublin 18.The Landfill is a ‘raised' landfill and covers an area of approximately 40 hectares. The capping works were completed in November 2009.There is an overland gas extraction system on approximately one-third of the landfill. The gas extraction system on the remaining two-thirds is underground.There is a gas combustion plant, a methane stripping plant and a small car park.There are streams bordering the Landfill. In addition, Ballyogan Stream, part of which is culverted, flows through the Landfill.It is envisaged that the Landfill will become a public amenity during the Contract period.The Recycling Park incorporates:a. A civic amenity, which is operated by a Contractor on behalf of the Contracting Authority.b. A waste reception facility, comprising of a waste reception hall, a baling hall and associated offices. The reception and baling halls are currently vacant.c. A stormwater wetlands, which is contained within a reinforced concrete structure.d. A section of the ‘Pale' ditch, an archaeological site.A proportion of the monitoring locations lie outside the landfill boundary, in either land owned by the ContractingAuthority or third parties.Summary of the number of current monitoring locations:Landfill Gas 73;Groundwater 18;Groundwater - Private 2;Leachate 12;Surface Water 10;Dust 5;PM10 5;Noise 7;Ecological 7;Gas Engine Emissions 1;Emissions to Sewer 2;Stormwater 2.The Environmental Protection Agency issued a Licence for the Facility on 25.8.2000. Licence Register Number W0015-01.
