Gateshead Council is constructing a District Energy Scheme to provide heat and power for homes and businesses in central Gateshead.The Council is seeking to appoint a Contractor to deliver the following works packages:— Design and installation of the Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Units (specialist subcontractor design).— Maintenance of the CHP Units.The scope of work is the design, supply, delivery to site, positioning, testing, commissioning, setting to work and maintenance (for a 15 year period) of one complete Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Unit with an option to procure a second complete CHP Unit within 5 years at an agreed price. Each CHP Unit will be based on an internal combustion spark ignition gas engine and generator (the CHP unit) and the ancillaries to operate and maintain the CHP unit, thus forming a complete packaged system.The CHP Units shall be installed in new energy centre buildings to be provided by others. Other energy centre plant including energy centre pipework and electrical systems will be procured separately.The Contractor shall be required to provide, install, test and commission all CHP plant and CHP ancillaries up to the demarcation points.
