As part of the inter-municipal project "Near-natural redesign of the Lengelbach and creation of sediment retention", the municipality of Vöhl, the city of Frankenau and the city of Frankenberg (Eder) would like to carry out renaturation measures on the Lengel (water code: 42832) and its tributaries under the leadership of the city of Frankenberg (Eder). The planning was approved on 19.07.2021 and covers the entire course of the Lengel from the source to the mouth. Measures are planned to promote self-dynamic development and the retention of fine sediments. In addition, selective measures are planned along the entire Lengelbach to enhance the ecological status. This includes the creation of patency for aquatic organisms on transverse structures. The implementation of the overall measure is planned in various construction phases for at least the next 7 years, as land availability still has to be established in part by land consolidation. In addition, special consideration must be given to sensitive areas of the FFH area "Obere Eder" and the bird sanctuaries in the course of construction.
