Description:
Scanning electron microscope

The client is planning to purchase a new scanning electron microscope with EDX analysis based on a research project. The plant is to be used primarily for the analysis of oxide ceramic compounds from the field of refractory materials, for the analysis of corrosion zones inclusions and for the investigation of fine carbon modifications.Samples are primarily:

- Refractory ceramics, corrosion zones, organic binder systems (coal tar pitches, resins), inorganic materials

The refractory ceramics used based on Al, Ca and Mg oxides; carbon compounds such as graphites, carbon blacks, coal tar pitches; investigation of green compacts, i.e. non-sintered material as well as sintered samples.

The object of the contract is a scanning electron microscope with SE and BSE detector, low vacuum mode with low vacuum SE detector, control panel, landing energy control by opposing field, EDX detector (resolution >= 127 eV @ Mn-K alpha and >= 56 eV @ C-K alpha, both at counting rates >= 100,000 cps) with a sensor area of >= 60 mm² including the appropriate software functions for real-time representation of the chemical composition of the sample, real-time spectrum, real-time mapping, a reporting function and automatic drift correction. In addition, the microscope's control software is on a Windows-based instrument computer with monitor as well as EDX control software on a separate Windows-based computer with monitor.
