As part of the CARBONARA project, the qualitative and quantitative phase analysis of powder samples is to be carried out using X-ray diffractometry. In addition, small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) should be possible to investigate nanostructures in a size range of approx. 1-100 nm and determine the particle size. A controllable x, y, z table, suitable collimators, an adjustment unit should make it possible to map samples and, for example, to determine and characterize inclusions within the structure, as well as by measuring with a 2D detector, information about texture through preference orientation and grain or grain or determine crystallite size distribution for the evaluation of sample preparation.
The object of the contract is a type-approved X-ray diffractometer with a copper tube, cooled via an internal cooling circuit, and easy change of point and line focus. The sample platform has sample rotation and a sample changer for at least 5 samples, easy switching between Bragg Brentano and parallel beam geometry. A motorized x, y, z table allows sample mapping using adjustment setup, suitable collimators allow a location-resolved µXRD, an energy discriminating detector that can record 0D, 1D and 2D with a window of at least 20° 2theta in snapshot in 2D mode. A high-temperature chamber for sample measurement up to holding temperatures of at least 1500 °C in air. A SAXS extension for sample analysis in transmission. Instrument calculator with associated control software and at least 10 network licenses for the evaluation software packages.
