The purpose of the contract is to ensure that the household waste received and processed through Grinda recycling centre takes place in an efficient and environmentally friendly way. The recycling centre is to be operated in a user-friendly manner in addition to contributing to achieving Vesars and its owner municipalities' target of 70 % recycling. Grinda recycling centre exclusively accept waste from the households. The contract also includes recycling final disposal of most of the received waste.

Grinda is one of five recycling centres which are administered by Vesar AS. In the long term, there are plans to coordinate the operation of all 5 recycling centres, which therefore limits the contract period of this contract.

The operating of Grinda recycling centre, including the recycling and final disposal of received waste is subjected in this contract. The responsibility and ownership of the received waste with some exceptions are transferred to the service provider who is then responsible for a market based final disposal of the waste.

The recycling centre only accepts different kinds of household waste. The households deliver the waste and sort it in different containers and other suitable units, at the recycling centre. The service provider is responsible for guidance and help to the visitors at the centre in addition to handling the payments. Administration as well as cleaning and necessary maintenance of the recycling centre are also tasks implemented in the service. The recycling centre is open to the public 41 hours a week. Changes can be made to the opening hours according to the option described in the tender.
