The Norwegian Public Roads Administration would like to start the municipal sector plan work for the new E39 on the stretch from Kvinesdal to Ålgård. The new E39 shall be planned as a four lane motorway with a speed limit of 110 km/h. The entire stretch is 122 km along the current road. The Ministry of Transport would like two different general corridors to be assessed in the search for a new corridor. These corridors are defined as the inner line and the outer line. The inner corridor runs through Kvinesdal and Flekkefjord municipalitites in Vest-Agder and Lund, Eigersund, Bjerkreim and Gjesdal municipalities in Rogaland county. The corridor is almost the same as the current E39. The outer corridor, also called Jærlinna, goes further south towards the coast. The corridor also covers Klepp, Time, Hå and Sokndal municipalities. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has been asked to assess these 2 corridors. Variants of the inner and outer corridors shall also be assessed. Some combinations of them can also be possible.
