Description:

Scarborough Borough Council where required commissions contractors to carry out disabled adaptation works to properties in order to facilitate independence for residents. In addition, the Council manages the provision of the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) which enables residents in the borough to secure funding to carry out disabled adaptations to their properties where this is necessary.

This contract establishes contractors to deliver Disabled Adaptations Services in the following lots:

Lot 1a: Ramps — Concrete

Lot 1b: Ramps — Prefabricated

Lot 2: Showers

Lot 3: Heating — Air Source

Lot 4: Heating — Electric

Lot 5: Heating — Gas

Lot 6: Heating — Oil Fired.


Ramps — Concrete

Referrals for adaptations may be received from a number of sources, with the exact scheme usually determined by an Occupational Therapy assessment.

Adaptations play a major part in helping customers maintain their independence and provide them with a safe environment in their own homes.

In particular ramp adaptations provide safe access in and out of the property, for people with limited mobility, such as older and disabled people.

The Contractor must work to the specification/drawings provided. Where unforeseen works occur or the installation of the standard specification is not feasible, Contractors must contact the Technical Officer dealing with the case and agree any amendments to the specification prior to undertaking such works.

Where unforeseen works occur or the installation of the standard specification is not feasible, contractors must contact the Technical Officer dealing with the case and agree any amendments to the specification prior to undertaking such works.


Heating — Air Source

Referrals for adaptations may be received from a number of sources, with the exact scheme based on consultations with Occupational Therapy.

In particular, properties which have adequate heating enable disabled, older and vulnerable residents to stay health and warm and reduce the risk of unnecessary hospital admissions/deaths due to cold related illnesses.

The Council will determine the exact type of heating based on the client's needs/ choice and what is deemed the most practical solution for the property taking into account its construction/location.

This lot covers the installation and repair of domestic air source heating systems.
