South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (Xamk) is purchasing a field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectrometer (EDS) according to this tender documentation. Equipment will be located to KymiLabs RDI-unit in Kotka.
The primary use of the device is to image and analyze the topographic and compositional information of various materials by means of field emission scanning with EDS. The system must consist of an FE-SEM and an EDS that are configured to work together in a correlative set-up. The research interests are mainly in the analysis of the areas related to concrete and geopolymer research (concrete, concrete aggregates, admixtures and fibers etc.) and biochars, charcoal and activated carbon research.
