The current ground floor intersection of the N18 with the Zieuwentseweg in Lichtenvoorde leads to dangerous situations and forms a bottleneck in the flow of the N18, which is therefore being lifted. To make this possible, a bicycle tunnel must be realized at the location of the current intersection.

The change of cables and pipes has already been realized prior to the present agreement.

An important part in the implementation of the project N18 - Zieuwentseweg concerns the guarantee of flow and accessibility, with as little hindrance as possible. The project is located in the main thoroughfare, which is important for Twente and Achterhoek, the N18. Furthermore, it concerns an environment with many stakeholders and interfaces, for which limiting obstacles is important.
