The Council has a number of obligations with respect to the control of dogs and the purpose of this contract is to ensure that these obligations are met. The Council's statutory obligations can be found within the following legislative provisions:
— Environmental Protection Act 1990 — Section 149 and 150.
— The Environmental Protection (Stray Dogs) Regulations 1992.
— The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
— The Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005.
The Contract contains options for the collection of stray dogs, returning dogs to their owner, kennelling services, veterinary services, re-homing of unwanted dogs, collection of fees and charges etc.
