The Royal Marsden needed to purchase 18F-PSMA doses.

The use of 18F-PSMA will allow the Trust to provide a better service to patients and together with the in-house service reply to the current demand.

The majority of the patient requiring Choline scans can be converted for PSMA, which will positively impact patient management.

The number of prostate patients the Trust is scanning is growing and as an effect the PSMA imaging service is growing. This tracer is now available which allow the Trust to have a PSMA tracer ready to use. They provide the new tracer 18F-PSMA tracer 2 days a week. Currently we have 3 weeks wait with the PSMA imaging, which is far from ideal.

There is only 1 supplier on the market who can provide 18F-PSMA doses hence the Trust is planning to direct award this contract to Siemens Petnet.
