The Neustadt waste-to-energy plant (MHKW) is located in the district of Ostholstein, at Industrieweg 9-11, west of the center of the city of Neustadt i. H. The road connection is via the A1 motorway and the L 309 state road leading to Neustadt.
The slag is a heterogeneous mixture of ash, sintered and molten components, metals, glass, ceramics, stones and unburned. Depending on the waste input and incineration process, the composition and grain size can vary considerably. It is possible in individual cases to exceed the allocation values for DK I and DK II landfills in accordance with Annex 3, Table 2 of the Landfill Ordinance.
The "slags" fall under the waste designation with the AVV code:

with the exception of those that fall under 190111.
So far, the slag has been disposed of under this AVV code without exception.
