The new quay extension will in principle be built in the same way as the old quay due to good operating experience.
The quay will be served by two mobile harbour cranes, as is the case for the current Kattegat Quay. Capacity has also been arranges so that in the future the quay can be operated by rail-based, electrically operated, Gantry ship to shore container cranes.
‘There are great depths to the bearing rock/morain. The quay will partially be established on steel pipe to rock, 80 m-120 m below sea level, and partially in the morains below on about the same level.
The new quay will have a free sailing depth on contour -10.875 m in relation to NN 2000.
The procurement is a general contract in accordance with NS 8405, including ground works, foundations, erosion control measures, superstructure and equipment, OPI channels for onshore power, surface water management and general reallocation of underlying areas. In summary, a completely function quay must be delivered with fully installed equipment and wells for onshore power, as well as a completely developed underlying area (approx. 40 m behind the quay structures) where surface water management is included.
Through the general contract, the supplier, also called the contractor, will be the total supplier of all works, including ground works and technical disciplines necessary to build and complete the quay and underlying area for use. If the tenderer does not have all of the necessary disciplines, they must be delivered through associated sub-contractors, such as (but not limited to), construction contractors, marine contractors, machine contractors, electro installers, HVAC and sanitation contractors. In step 2 of the competition, the sub-contractors are required to present commitment statements.
