The project national road 77 the Tjernefjell tunnel includes tunnel works and portals, as well as some roadworks on both side of the tunnel. The length of the tunnel is 3 230 metres and shall be constructed in accordance with class B, with a cross section of T9,5.

At the Junkerdal side a cutting and 480 metres road shall be constructed as a connection to the existing national road 77.

At the Saltdal side the national road 77 will have a section in open air. The length of this section is 490 metres with a crossing connection to the E6. The E6 shall be reconstructed on an 800 metre long section on both side of this crossing A road connected to the old national road 77 shall also be constructed.

Masses shall be laid in the road embankment and the ground shall be levelled for the future E6. The masses shall also be placed in a deposit in Junkerdalen, Lønsdal and at the left tunnel portal on the Saltdal side.
