At The Crown Estate, as managers of the seabed around England, Wales and Northern Ireland, we play a unique and active role in developing and helping sustain UK energy supply and infrastructure. We have been actively engaging with the industry and stakeholders since early 2018, to seek views on the scale, location and nature of new leasing. This feedback has been instrumental in helping us to devise and refine our proposals for Round 4. Through Round 4, we are making at least 7 GW of new seabed rights available, up to a possible maximum of 8,5 GW. These rights will consist of a number of individual seabed ‘agreements for lease’, which will be awarded to a number of successful bidders through this process. Holders of the agreements for lease will be required to develop offshore wind farms and will ultimately enter into leases with The Crown Estate for the construction and operation of these wind farms. Application process for seabed rights for the development, construction and operation of offshore wind farms. The process will comprise a PQQ followed by an ITT, and will result in the award of a number of individual offshore wind sites of aggregate generating capacity 7,0 to 8,5 GW to successful bidders.
