Description:
Digipatologian järjestelmähankinta Essote

Sansia Oy requests an offer for the digital pathology production system and related services.

The target is a digital pathology production system and related services for a 5+2-year contract period. The purchase includes glass scanners (number sized to be sufficient for the subscriber's sample volume), server software, viewing software for use in pathologists' workstations, and image analysis software (option, compatibility required). The purchase does not include the necessary storage space and server capacity, but the installation is negotiated with the IT service provider designated by the Subscriber.

rearview

Essote's pathology laboratory provides pathology services for municipal health care in the Mikkeli region. Approximately 40,000 histological glasses are examined annually in the laboratory. The current Essote is part of the well-being area of Etelä-Savo, and in addition to Essote, it will also include the current Sosteri, whose pathology laboratory in Savonlinna examines approximately 6,300 to 7,000 histological glasses annually.

The procurement will acquire a digital pathology production system for scanning and viewing histological glasses, and it will be placed in the Mikkeli Pathology Laboratory at this stage. The equipment is planned to be extended to cytological glasses in the coming years, and the equipment to be acquired will also require the possibility of multi-location production, meaning that the sample glass scanners to be connected to the whole can be located in both Mikkeli and Savonlinna in the coming years.

For the pathology laboratory, it is important for the smooth flow of samples in the laboratory process. The scanning of samples should be highly automated, including as few manual operations as possible. This can be seen in the procurement requirements, for example, so that it must be possible to feed the glass rags of the dyeing machine used in the laboratory as such after the dyeing has been completed on the scanner without moving the glasses to another rack or rearranging the glasses. It is also important for the operation that urgent glasses can be fed into the scanning process in the middle of the scan, so that the device to be purchased does not have to be kept empty while waiting for a sample from the operating room.

Especially important for the pathology laboratory is the possibility of smooth consultation with other pathology laboratories. Pathologists working in the laboratory examine the samples both on site in the laboratory and at remote points. In addition, the laboratory needs extensive possibilities to use external pathologists in other laboratories in Finland.

Goal mode

The aim of the procurement is to introduce a digital pathology system that will enable the laboratory's histological samples to be transferred digitally during 2023. The system to be acquired must enable it to be extended later to a pathology laboratory in Savonlinna.

The procurement is carried out as a service purchase. One supplier is selected for the procurement, which may also be a group/consortium of several bidders. The pricing model is €/glass.
