Information Advice and Support Services (IASS) provide free impartial, confidential information, advice and support about education, health and social care for children, young people (aged 0-25 years) and their parent carers on matters relating to special educational needs and disability (SEND). The provision of information, advice and support should help to promote independence and self-advocacy for children, young people and parent carers, enabling them to take part effectively in discussions and decision relating to their education, health and care provision.
Local Authorities have a statutory duty to provide a SENDIASS as detailed in the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and the Children and Families Act 2014. The Minimum Standards for SEND Information, Advice and Support Services are informed by the above legislation.
The Service is for;
oAll children and young people (CYP) with special educational needs or a disability aged 0-25
oThe parent carers of the above
oThose living within the Shropshire geographical area.
The Service will ensure that is has the capacity to reach a large number of children, young people and parent carers within Shropshire Council areas.
