The battery concept for distribution network concerns products and services required in the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) located in the medium voltage network to be used by the Battery Service Provider (BSP) as a Frequency Containment Reserve for Normal Operation (FCR-N) or other suitable markets. Distribution system operator (DSO) can purchase reservation time from the battery capacity approximately of 1-5 % of the total operational time and use the BESS automatically during an unexpected interruption of supplying network. BESS shall be able to support island operations fully automatically. The BSP shall also supply, own and develop a battery system connected to DSO’ Battery Connection System (BCS). The BCS Supplier shall be responsible for delivering the BCS for DSO which is then operated by DSO and BSP. Both the BSP and the BCS Supplier shall work together as the Innovation Partners (the Innovation Partners) to develop the Battery Concept for Distribution Network.
