On behalf of the Norwegian Food Safety Authority Institute of Marine Research leads the work on analyzes of phytoplankton to the NFSA monitoring " National inspection program for clams 2014 - algae ". IMR will lead the program, analyze selected stations and be responsible for all reporting into the FSA . In this program IMR wants to enter into an agreement with a supplier of laboratory analyzes for some of the analyzes.
The program is intended to provide data on the presence and amount of toxin -producing algae that could lead to toxin accumulation in mussels. The data collected will be used by the NFSA in their counseling regarding dietary advice to the public and for control of farms. The data used for national and international reporting and analysis, recording and reporting must be in accordance with the international obligations and policies.
