Description:

Telecommunications services. Requirement:Modern Digital communication system. The British Army Training Unit in Kenya (BATUK)is seeking to replace the exixting Professional Mobile Radio Communication System with a modern digital communication system. The new system must be flexible,resilient and allow for multiple concurrent group communication calls to meet the demand of the present and future communication needs.BATUK conduct training in Kenya over a large area of ground with varying terrain;this will range from mountainous (Aberdares),jungle(Kathindi) to semi arid desert(Archers'Post) with a total straight line distance of approximately 300km. Communications along the main transit route which covers this distance and all the terrains would need to be guaranteed. The main training areas used are both mountainous and semi arid desert and due to the nature of the training at least 95 % communications coverage is required. The new system will be used by mainly BATUK staff but other UK Government Departments/Agencies may wish to share in the future.

Suppliers wishing to express an interest in this requirement are required to:

Submit a copy of their accredited third party (or government issued) Quality Management System (QMS)certification which includes an appropriate scope to meet the requirement. In the event that no certification is held, the company must be able to demonstrate that they operate and maintain a QMS acceptable to the department for this requirement.

Confirm thaty they are willing or able to trade electronically using the Purchase to Payment (P2P) business process. Further information on this system can be obtained from the following website www.d2btrade.com.

A Pre Qualifying Questionnaire (PQQ) may be sent to companies who have expressed an interest to this Possible Future Purchase (PFP). In the event of this happening objective criteria for choosing the limited numbers of candidates will be used in the form of commercial and technical evaluation of responses to PQQ. The criteria for down selection will be issued with the PQQ along with the date that the PQQ will need to be returned. It is envisaged that the number of companies who will be invited to tender will be a maximum of six (6).
