Blackpool CCG, which is located on the Fylde coast in Lancashire, England, has a GP registered population of 172,220 and a resident population of 142,000. In addition to the resident population, the resort of Blackpool sees an estimated 11 million visitors each year. The population of Blackpool has a considerable amount of transience, including from out of town as well as movement within the town.
Blackpool CCG wishes to procure same day access to unscheduled primary medical care services incorporating triage, assessment and treatment of presentations at the open access walk in service and Urgent Care Centre (UCC) based in Blackpool. In addition the provider will provide the full range of services in the UCC's Primary Care Assessment Unit and DVT service providing rapid access to diagnostics and assessment to confirm diagnosis where it is likely that the patient will be discharged within a few hours. Radiology services are currently provided by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust. The service will develop in future to provide a wide range of ambulatory care conditions in a primary care setting. The service will integrate with local GPs, acute and community health, social care services and Public Health and support the development of the CCG's out of hospital strategy. The provider will have full responsibility for all operational management, administrative, staffing and training requirements and all associated costs.
The successful provider will be required to sign the relevant national NHS contract for the service, accepting all terms and conditions.
