TTY Foundation (Tampere University of Technology) is about to purchase a Cold Spray system including delivery, installation and training. Cold spray (cold-gas dynamic spray, supersonic particle deposition, kinetic spray) system is for coating production and additive manufacturing.

Cold spraying has shown its potential for producing high-quality and high-performance coatings for different application areas. Tampere University of Technology (TUT) has a long-term research and development in the field of surface engineering especially in thermal spraying and cold spraying. A modern cold spray system will offer possibility to produce technical coatings and to use it as a novel method for additive manufacturing. This modern cold spray system will be placed in Thermal Spray Center Finland (TSCF) at Tampere University of Technology (TUT), Laboratory of Materials Science. It also has the connecting points with Smart Machines and Manufacturing Competence Centre (SMACC) at TUT. The use will be focused on the manufacturing and development of high-quality coatings from various coating materials (metals, polymers, composites and ceramics) with high deposition efficiency and deposition rate. Potential application areas will be related to e.g., energy, machine, process and aviation sectors.
