Since 1.3.2015 organized the German Red Cross - District Association Leer e. V. - (DRK) for the district of Leer (LK Leer) a counseling service for refugees and thus supports the integration work of the LK Leer and its municipalities. The advisory and mediating assistance for asylum seekers of all ages, which have been assigned to the LK Leer, takes place in close cooperation with other counseling institutions in the LK Leer, the specialist departments of the LK Leer and the municipalities in the district. The work of the DRK takes place decentrally in the municipalities of the LK Leer and is of an outreach nature, since the accommodation of the refugees in the LK Leer is organized by contract of attraction decentralized in the district-related communities. At its meeting on 1.12.2017, the district committee (KA) of LK Leer decided to finance up to four full-time positions for another two years until 31.12.2019 in order to be able to continue the existing counseling services for refugees through the DRC.

With the help of the advisory service, the contractor supports the district of Leer in including existing refugees as well as those newly assigned by the State Reception Office in the existing structures and to continue their integration into society.
