The purpose of this contract is to identify and acquire marketing expertise on specific sectors of the blue economy, namely: monitoring of the polar environment and natural resources and energy.
Polar environmental monitoringGiven the critical role of the polar regions in regulating the Earth's climate and ocean circulation, they are of great scientific interest. They also have significant economic potential, particularly for maritime transport and the extraction of natural resources. To support the sustainable development and responsible use of these areas, Mercator Ocean is seeking a holder for the Copernicus Marine Service to provide the necessary data and information to private and public entities. This will help ensure compliance with relevant EU policies and directives, while promoting environmental protection and climate resilience in the polar regions.
Natural Resources and EnergyMarine renewable energy is a crucial area of intervention for the Copernicus Marine Service in support of the objectives of the EU Green Deal. With the growing demand for sustainable energy sources and the need to reduce carbon emissions, marine renewables have the potential to play an important role in achieving these goals. Copernicus Marine Service, by providing accurate and reliable data (e.g. ocean currents, waves, etc.), aims to facilitate the development and deployment of marine renewable energy technologies. This will enable private and public entities to make informed decisions on the design, installation and operation of marine energy systems. Through this consultation, Mercator Ocean aims to help accelerate the transition to a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy, as envisaged in the EU's Green Deal.
