The overall objective of the seminars is raise awareness and promote the dissemination of information on the EU equal treatment legislation and on the EU gender equality legislation amongst judges, other members of the judiciary, and legal practitioners in the EU and in those candidate countries and EEA/EFTA countries which have decided to participate in the REC programme (rights, equality and citizenship programme).
The immediate objectives of the seminars will be as follows:
• to train participants, raise awareness and disseminate information on the key principles and concepts of EU equal treatment legislation and EU gender equality legislation;
• to provide insights on the main case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union in these area;
• to discuss with participants the problems that may arise in the interpretation of specific provisions in the light of hypothetical and actual cases;
• to update participants on ongoing EU legislative developments.
