Land fill in the port of Emmelsum to expand the commercial area
DeltaPort GmbH & Co. KG (hereinafter: DeltaPort) operates the port of Emmelsum at Rheinkilometer 813 in the area of the city of Voerde, as well as the Rhine-Lippe port and the city port of Wesel in the area of the city of Wesel. The city of Voerde and the city of Wesel are located on the lower Lower Rhine and within the northwestern edge of the Ruhr area in North Rhine-Westphalia.
DeltaPort intends to expand its handling and storage capacity in the port of Emmelsum. For this purpose, the previously undeveloped area adjacent to the port to the west is to be raised in a flood-free manner by filling up the area for a new logistics area. In a further construction project, the extension of the quay/wall is planned, but this is not the subject matter here. The approximately 1.2 km long and approx. 80 m - 220 m wide terrain increases the commercial area of the port of Emmelsum along the western quay to a total of approx. 23.9 ha.
To upgrade the site for the planned use, the entire area must be filled up to a height of 23.90 m NHN. Since the extension area is located at an altitude of +20.50 m NHN in the south and +18.00 m NHN in the north, the site has to be raised by approximately 3.40 m to 5.9 m. A total of around 795,500 m³ of floors will be installed. At a later point in time, a 0.60 m thick surface is built up to a medium terrain level of 24.50 m NHN, so that the future traffic area has a freeboard dimension of approximately 0.69 to 0.84 m to the rated high water BHQ 2004.
The construction work for the land embankment is to be commissioned with this award procedure. For a more detailed description of the service to be provided, please refer to the award document and the service description attached to it, together with attachments.
The start of construction for the overall measure is scheduled for mid-July 2022. According to current knowledge, it is not possible to start construction before 18.07.2022 for reasons of nature conservation law. The technical processing must be carried out in good time before construction begins.
The start of construction (and thus the construction time and the construction schedule) may have to be adjusted if proof by a faunistic expert expert from the working group (ecological construction supervision, ÖBB) that the bird species to be protected do not breed in the construction field or within the species-specific escape distances cannot be provided. The costs of such a delay in the start of construction are remunerated via a separate item in the list of services.
Construction work must begin immediately as soon as this is possible from the point of view of nature conservation law.
The completion of the fan dam, including walling over its entire length, is to take place in the period from the beginning of August 2023 to mid-October 2023 at the latest.
The overall measure (including relocation of the “Am Schied” road, but excluding completion and development maintenance) must be completed by 31.07.2025 at the latest.
