Description:
Automation for the Central Liquid Bank of the University Medical Center Halle

For the biobank of the University Medical Center Halle (Saale), laboratory automation equipment is procured for the central liquid bank. This is a Liquid Handling Platform (Lot 1) and an automated nucleic acid extraction platform (Lot 2).

Lot 1 Liquid Handling Platform

The system ensures the following overall process: manual setting of open primary sample tubes (9 mL EDTA plasma) to the platform via sample carrier, automated phase detection to differentiate liquid and cellular blood components, and automated decapping of the individual tubes of a 96 SBS rack as a target rack ( archivrack) immediately prior to the start of labelling on the platform, interim storage of caps, separate aliquotation of liquid and cellular blood components, and capping (capping) of the individual tubes of the 96 SBS target rack (archive rack) immediately after the platform is aliquoted. The Liquid Handling Platform is dimensioned in such a way that the fully automatic liquid handling (sample identification, decapping of target tubes (archive racks), fractionation, aliquoting, capping of target tubes (archive racks) can be processed by at least 120 incremental samples of 9 mL daily (8 hours working time). For the estimation of 16 aliquots à 300μL plasma and 3 Aliquots of 500μL Buffy Coat. The Buffy Coat is to be aliquoted to a separate target rack (archive rack).

Lot 2 Platform for Automated Nucleic Acid Extraction

The automated nucleic acid extraction platform is designed for fully automatic extraction of nucleic acids from human sample material. The platform has integrated solutions for quantifying and determining the purity of extracted nucleic acids at least in the UV and fluorescence range. The necessary pipetting of the approach to quantification and purity of eluates is carried out by the platform into suitable microtiter plates. The platform has an integrated multifunction plate reader for photo- or fluorimetric measurement of approaches for quantifying and purity of eluates (minimum UV and fluorescence range). The multifunction plate reader is included in the offer price. At the same time, a framework agreement for the supply of reagents is to be concluded for the consumables over a period of 48 months with a maximum extension of 12 months.
