Heat-exchange units, air-conditioning and refrigerating equipment, and filtering machinery. Ground Cooling Units:
1.1 The United Kingdom Ministry of Defence Typhoon Delivery Team, hereafter known as the Authority, require that the Contractor shall provide Qty two (2) Ground Cooling Units (GCUs) to provide equipment cooling to the Typhoon Defensive Aids Sub System (DASS) within the Weapon System Support Rig (WSSR).
1.2 Each GCU shall be identical in size and operation as one will be in use, with the other as a spare.
1.3 The GCU shall be suitable for use indoors and outdoors.
1.4 The GCU shall be powered by a single phase supply of 240V.
1.5 The operating fluid used to disperse heat from the LRI cold walls shall be R245fa"
1.6 The GCU shall be able to cool a duty of 2 570 watts based on an ambient from +10oC to +42 oC.
1.7 Each GCU shall be no larger than 1 450 mm x 1650 mm x 700 mm.
1.8 Each CGU shall be air transportable, even when full of refrigerant.
1.9 Suitable materials of construction shall be used to allow for all parts wetted by the operating fluid to be used.
1.10 The coolant system shall be non-contaminating to eliminate the possibility of liquid contaminants and debris in the Line Replaceable Items.
1.11 The GCU shall use proven technology to ensure compatibility with the Typhoon DASS.
1.12 The GCU shall be PC based with a reliable system to record logs of use.
1.13 The GCUs shall be expected to work for up to 16 hrs per day, 5 days per week, with a surge capability of up to 72 hours.
1.14 As an aim, servicing of the GCUs should be annual.
1.15 All servicing and maintenance on the GCUs shall be carried out at RAF Coningsby.
1.16 A warranty shall be required for 1 year.
1.17 Both GCUs shall be delivered to the Typhoon Support Centre at RAF Coningsby.
1.18 Delivery shall be before 31.3.2016.
1.19 The Contractor shall work with BAE Systems to integrate the GCUs with the WSSR.
1.20 Practical training shall be delivered at delivery of the GCUs.
APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS
1.21 The Contractor shall deliver the safety and O&M documentation to BAE Systems either at or before delivery.
THE AUTHORITY’S DEPENDENCIES
1.22 Authority will ensure that BAE Systems’ personnel are available to visit the Contractor’s facilities to discuss integration of the GCUs.
1.23 Authority will ensure that BAE Systems’ personnel are available to integrate the GCUs on the WSSR at time of delivery.
1.24 Authority will ensure that BAE Systems’ and MoD personnel are available for practical training at time of delivery.
