The Department of Energy and Climate Change (‘DECC’) wished to appoint a Supplier to undertake a project to provide evidence of the impact of the principal grassland management approaches under UK conditions on soil organic carbon stocks so that we could publish an inventory which reflects changes in UK carbon stocks and be sure that the inventory is compliant with the IPCC requirements. It will also assist with policy development for the forthcoming LULUCF regulation and carbon budgets. The key outputs are stock change factors for grassland management techniques with uncertainty estimates and a framework to incorporate these into the LULUCF inventory.
