The Wiesbaden motorway junction connects the A3 with the A66. The junction is located in the Main-Taunus-Kreis within the urban areas of Hofheim am Taunus and Hochheim am Main. In the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030, the measure is classified as the urgent need to eliminate bottlenecks. DEGES has been commissioned with a service contract dated 28.02.2017 with the planning and implementation of the conversion of the Wiesbaden interchange (A3/A66) west of Wiesbaden. The length of the planning section of the preferred variant 2a on the A 3 is approx. 2.2 km, due to the required entry and exit areas. It starts in the north at construction kilometre approx. 153+100 and ends south at construction kilometre approx. 155+282. The length of the planning section on the A 66 is approx. 3.18 km.

The existing A 3 in the direction of Cologne as well as the A 66 west and east of the Wiesbaden junction have six lanes. In the direction of Würzburg, the A3 also has three lanes, in the opposite direction over four lanes. Within the motorway junction, there are four continuous lanes on both the A 3 and the A 66. The ramps of the junction are available in single lanes. In the course of the efficient expansion of the motorway interchange, the main lanes of the A3 and A66 in the inner area of the junction will each have six lanes and the ramps, which are heavily trafficked, will be designed with two lanes.
