Responsive repairs to existing windows and doors of East Kent Housing Properties.
Between 1980 and 1995 the Council replaced the windows and doors in nearly all of its approximate 3 400 residential and sheltered accommodation properties. These replacement windows and doors were fabricated from PVC-U profiles and incorporated single glazing or insulating double glazed units depending on the age of the installation. Several different profile systems were used along with a wide range of hardware. Installations were undertaken by a number of specialist companies or through Main Contractors.
Because of the number of different profiles, hardware, window and door types used; a wide range of products and services are required. It may even be necessary for some items of hardware to be specially made or adapted. In all cases it will be established that an existing unit is beyond economic repair before a replacement is installed for situations arising from fire malicious acts and or composition failure of the PVC-U frames.
