The assignment concerns the delivery of medicines and parapharmaceutical products to Ter Heide and its residents on the 4 campuses.

Medicines = supplying prescription and non-prescription medicines

Para-pharmaceutical products = personal care products (soaps, lotions, ointments, etc.), small medical equipment (eg special wound pads, dressings, first aid materials, etc.) and products such as medical oxygen, aerosol devices, etc.

The allocation is made to one tenderer.

Ter Heide consists of 8 residential areas: 2 in Genk, 4 in Zonhoven, 1 in Borgloon and 1 in Tongeren.

These 8 residential areas include 45 houses (also called living groups).

There are currently also 3 day centers: 1 in Genk, 1 in Zonhoven and 1 in Borgloon.

Ter Heide offers support to around 420 residents.

To date medication has been cooperated with 3 different pharmacists.

The delivery of medication takes place on 3 campuses in full doses. The employees within the living groups prepare the medication manually for our residents. One campus already uses multi-dose medication (Farmad pharmacy software).

The nurses (present from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm) currently manage the medication schedules of our residents, and oversee orders for medication. Within Ter Heide there is a collaboration with 6 doctors. They do their rounds in the morning and afternoon.

In terms of software, we only work with the medical software CareConnect from the company Corilus. There is no other program available at our institution to manage the medication.

The start of this new system of distribution of medication is foreseen in March 2020.
