The University of Bristol Faculty of Health Sciences runs an Academy based system made up of 7 NHS Academies and 3 virtual academies (University of Bristol Departments, Primary care and Avon and Wiltshire Partnership). The Great Western Hospital, Swindon, is one of the 7 academies that teach medical students. As part of their MBChB degree, the medical students must complete an External Student Selected Component (eSSC), and they are given an opportunity to choose which Academy they wish to attend to undertake their placement and project. The eSSC gives the students an opportunity to study a subject of their choice outside of the core curriculum.

This procurement exercise sought one supplier to provide Extreme Physiology, Tropical Medicine – Uganda, Public Health, Dive and WEM/Sport courses. This contract has been let for a period of 3 + 1 + 1 years.
