As part of the expansion of Bayreuther Straße, Nürnberg is planning the complete renewal of the tram infrastructure between Rathenauplatz and Deumentenstraße, including the tram turning loop at Berliner Platz, as well as the necessary adjustments and new buildings from an operational and technical point of view, including catenary for the reactivation of the tram in regular service in this section of the route. In the course of the complete renewal, the tracks in Pirckheimerstraße will also be adapted to the track geometry of the track triangle in the area of the junction with Bayreuther Straße. The content of this tender is the planning according to HOAI 2021 traffic facilities, basic services of service phase 8 as well as special and additional services.
The renewal and adaptation of the tram infrastructure roughly includes the following construction services:
- Dismantling of the existing infrastructure (track, catenary and stops)
- New construction of approx. 1,100 m double track, approx. 550 m single track and approx. 320 m passing track in various designs (FF 2016, concrete longitudinal beam and Rheda City Green)
- Lee pipe and cable laying work below the track zone
- Establishment of public transport acceleration measures
- Replacement/new construction of 14 switch systems and 6 track crossings
- Barrier-free construction of new tram stops
- New construction of approx. 3,200 m catenary (high chain), catenary masts and wall anchors
- Communication and electrotechnical services
In addition to the complete renewal of the tram infrastructure, the structural implementation of the redistribution of the road space in favor of the environmental network is taking place at the same time. Extensive road, bicycle and sidewalk work is carried out by the Nuremberg Public Space Service Agency. In addition, extensive division relocation and renewal work will be carried out by N-ERGIE and the city drainage and environmental analysis department in the course of construction.
