The municipality of Virolahti will put out to tender the school transports of the municipalities of Miehikkälä and Virolahti. The services, which are now being put out to tender, will start in August 2023 when the schools start. The transport package includes intramunicipal transports of schoolchildren with preschoolers, possible transports of special needs pupils to other municipalities, other transports needed by schoolchildren and other municipal stakeholders, service and service traffic, charter runs within school days, and other transports aimed at needs that have arisen during the contract and possible option periods. In early 2023, the ELY Centre and the municipalities will explore further alternatives to public transport open to all, either by exercising options or by tendering for public transport open to all.

Public transport open to all and separate transport complement each other in the provision of transport services by the municipalities concerned. In late spring 2023, once the transport student material has been confirmed, additional transport equipment will be procured for separate transports, if necessary.
