The municipal council of Maldegem has the ambition to make this legislature in the current field of GO! Central school and Atheneum Courtmanslaan, in the center of our municipality, to create a new home for young people. The area behind the school is no less than 18,000 m 2 large and will form one large youth site with new rooms for the youth movements, a large event hall, a new site for the youth house, an adventure playground and a large lawn for outdoor activities.

With the new youth site, the municipality wants to create a meeting place where children and young people can enjoy their free time, interact with each other and feel at home. By bringing all elements together in one location, we connect and strengthen the Maldegem youth and the available accommodation can also be used to the maximum by everyone.

A youth site must be adapted to the needs of young people, with sufficient attention to conviviality, security, the feeling of a "second home". This requires a unique and specific design with high spatial quality

The municipality also wants to respond to the demand for a location for large parties and events. That is why she also wants to provide a large multipurpose and divisible event hall on the site. The hall can be used by the youth movements and associations, but also by other organizers.

The new location for the various youth movements will replace their current and outdated housing. The new classrooms, in combination with a spacious lawn, will provide more leeway.

Due to its location in the center, the site is easily accessible by bicycle for many. Public transport stops are within walking distance. Parking can also be provided on the site itself, in combination with the nearby Oud St-Jozef car park.
