The synthesis of ammonia is of central importance for the CampFire project. A test stand with a high-pressure furnace is needed in the course of the projects to realize ammonia synthesis at pressures of up to 80 bar. The thermodynamic equilibrium in reaction 3 H2O+N2 2NH3+3/2 O2 will also proceed at higher pressures in favour of ammonia production during electrochemical synthesis. This achieves a much more economical extraction of the chemical. Simulations predict that SSAS will be able to compete with existing ammonia synthesis processes. In order to confirm this experimentally for the first time, a high-pressure SSAS test stand is required.
