Vestre Viken HF is a health company within the regional health company Helse Sør-Øst RHF. Vestre Viken health company was established 1 July 2009 when Kongsberg, Ringerike, Asker and Bærum and Buskerud Hospitals were merged. Asker og Bærum Hospital has since changed its name to Bærum Hospital and Buskerud Hospital has since changed its name to Drammen Hospital. The health company provides hospital and specialist health services to 444,500 people in 26 municipalities. This is done in close cooperation with the primary health service in the municipalities. Vestre Viken HF has 9,500 employees. The health company shall develop good and equal services to the population in the catchment area.

The Ophthalmology Department at Vestre Viken HF carries out approx. 1 500 - 2 000 cataract operations per annum, and takes over more eye operations from Oslo University Hospital when patients from Asker and Bærum are transferred to Vestre Viken HF. The contracting authority would like to enter into a framework agreement for deliveries of standard lenses, which make up most of the volume, for up to a four year period, of which the first two years are contracted, whilst the subsequent years will be extension options. The Ophthalmology Department is located at Drammen Hospital.
