Preservation of evidence and monitoring of water management, hydrogeological and pedological aspects for land-side dredged material storage in former sand mining waters in the municipality of Moormerland - Water Protection Officer Spülseen GeMo
In order to ensure the safety and ease of shipping traffic on the Unterems and in the Leda, regular maintenance dredging is required. The extracted dredged material is accommodated on land (land-side dredged material accommodation). For the section Ems-km 15 to 32 (Weener to Gandersum), the extracted sediment is mainly washed into former gravel or sand mining waters. As a rule, two dredging campaigns with an average duration of 3 months can be expected per year.
The available former mining waters are located in the area of the municipality of Moormerland south of the Sautel Canal.
The flushing with regard to groundwater and water quality in the infiltration waters must be monitored by an external specialist office in accordance with the valid planning approval amendment decisions.
The service can only be roughly distinguished via the planning approval and is subject to the change of the flushing and the resulting progress and the then necessary measures. The Water Protection Officer (GSB) must adapt flexibly to the measure and, if necessary, to new requirements or changes in the project. Therefore, the measure cannot be described exhaustively and the intellectual contribution of the implementing GSB is in the foreground.
