Invitation to Tender for the Provision of an Integrated Wheelchair Service for Children and Young People (up to 16 years of age).
NHS Hull invites tenders from all suitably qualified and experienced providers to provide the Integrated Wheelchair Service for Children and Young People.
The Service sought is as follows:
a)Assessment, prescription, provision and a maintenance and repair service of manual and powered wheelchairs, specialised seating and cushions, modifications and accessories for children and young people up to 16 years (i.e. up to 16th birthday) who have a physical/cognitive and/or degenerative long term condition which limits mobility.
b)For children and young people who are either registered with a Hull General Medical Practitioner (GP) or not registered with any GP but living within the NHS Hull boundary.
c)The service to be provided at a location convenient in terms of access for patients residing within Hull.
NHS Hull requires applications from bidders who are able to:
a)Provide a high quality cost-effective service in line with recognised best practice and National Minimum Wheelchair Standards
b)Achieve high levels of service user satisfaction.
c)Ensure children and young people and their parents and carers are kept well informed and fully involved in their care.
d)Ensure children and young people receive the most appropriate care in the appropriate setting for their needs.
e)Meet all response times throughout the care pathway
Potential bidders should note that specialist wheelchairs, including complex postural seating and powered wheelchair controls are included within the definitions of specialised services for 2013/14, and that future commissioning responsibility for these elements of wheelchair services will be with the National Commissioning Board (N.C.B.). Any contract awarded therefore may require the specialist elements of the Service to transfer to the N.C.B. with effect from 1 April 2013 as part of the transfer of all Primary Care Trust contracts.
