Tønsberg Renseanlegg IKS is an inter-municipal company established in 1973 and owned by Færder og Tønsberg kommune (Færder og Tønsberg Municipalities). The company is an independent legal subject.
We are located in the treatment plant premises at Vallø in Tønsberg. We are responsible for sewage networks where there is sewage water from both municipalities and operation of the treatment plant, including sludge treatment.
The procurement includes delivery of burnt lime to our lime silo (volume 70 m
Burn lime (CaO) must be delivered continuously adapted to the needs of the treatment plant. The plant sludge production is currently 6 500 tonne of dry substance (TS) per year. Approx. 4 kg of burnt lime per tonne of dry substance is used in current dewatering. At times we receive dewatered sludge from other treatment plants that is also included in the treated quantity. The scope of this varies.
Approx. 2 000 tonne of burnt lime is used on an annual basis. The lime need can change over time.
The company uses burnt lime for sanitation and stabilisation of dewatered sludge from municipal sewage water (the Orsa method).
