The main purposes of these maintenance operations are:
- Restore the dead volume of the basin in order to perpetuate its role in settling the chronic pollution present in rainwater at the level of this volume;
- Propose a programme of works and techniques to minimise the environmental impact of these maintenance operations.
Highway stormwater basins are of the following types:
- Decanter-oil separator basin (BDD),
- Retention and de-oiling basin (BRD),
- Infiltration Shaving Basin (BEI),
- Filter basin with oil separator (BFD),
- Disengagement Pool (DES).
With a storage volume of sedimented sludge.
The basins are made of concrete, earth or geomembrane.
