The planning area is located in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, Jerichower Land district, north-west of the district town of Burg. As part of the implementation of the flood protection concept of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, the existing dike system will be renovated in accordance with the current regulations and guidelines. The aim is the DIN-compliant construction of the dike to ensure stability, including the installation of a sealing sheet piling wall and dike defence in the event of flooding. The construction project extends over a length of approx. 0.8 km. This award concerns the landscape conservation execution planning.

The construction project for the removal of flood damage is located in the landscape conservation area "Elbaue bei Bertingen" and is also part of the bird protection area "Elbaue Jerichow".

The nature conservation studies (landscape conservation accompanying plan, species conservation contribution, FFH compatibility study) have already been carried out, the measures specified in the documents to compensate for the interventions in nature and landscape are now to be carried out.
