The main purpose of the contract is the supply and installation of the equipment indicated in each of the following lots:

- lot 1: supply and installation of a scientific storage solution for the CRG,

- lot 2: supply and installation of a specific storage solution for the CRG proteomics unit,

- lot 3: supply and installation of a specific storage solution for the CNAG-CRG,

- Lot 4: expansion of the CRG HPC network.

Installation and configuration of a disk storage solution is required to allow the current primary system to be replaced once it has reached the end of its useful life.

The CRG proteomics unit requires a redundant storage system to save the data and results generated during the analysis of biomedical samples by mass spectrometry within the project «Creation and development of the biomedical proteomics platform (CRG unit) for biomedical applications and translational with own means »of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

The CNAG is in the process of greatly expanding its sequencing capacity with the purchase of multiple sequencers. The current storage system is already near its maximum capacity, so it is necessary to expand the available storage to accommodate the new sequencers. Rather than expanding the current Luster file system, it is proposed to add a second tier of disk storage with lower performance and which functions as a disk archive. This will allow less critical data (that is, data from completed projects) to move out of the Luster file system, freeing up space in the file system for new sequencing data. The new proposed system will have at least as much capacity as the existing Luster file system (4.4 PB), and therefore will be able to contain all the less commonly used data found in it.

The expansion of the CRG's HPC network is required to provide the necessary connectivity for the new storage system for lot 1 and lot 2 of this same tender.
