The mission is to carry out train traffic, be responsible for vehicle maintenance, and provide some other traffic related services. The traffic must be carried out with vehicles of type ER1 and Regina provided by Mälardalstrafik MÄLAB AB. For maintenance of the vehicles, Mälardalstrafik also provides a depot in Eskilstuna. The traffic will start at the timetable change in December 2021 and should be conducted at least until the change of timetable in December 2029. During the first traffic year, it covers approximately 15 million vehicle kilometers.
