The use of belts and child protection systems in cars as well as wearing helmets and protective clothing in two-wheeler traffic make a significant contribution to reducing the consequences of accidents. That is why continuous monitoring and reporting on protective behavior is important for road safety policy.

This project continues the observations in flowing traffic that have been ongoing since 1975. In addition, the belt use rates in road haulage are to be collected in analogy to the annual observations in passenger car transport.

Goal/Benefit

The primary objective is to record with sufficient reliability the changes in the sector of the protective behaviour of road users on an annual basis. The survey of safety behaviour in car, two-wheeler and heavy-duty transport is to be carried out for two years in a row (2024 and 2025) and according to a specified study design. This ensures that the observation results are comparable to those of previous years.
