Description:

Black and Minority Ethnic Community Mental Health Support Service is required to provide a range of culturally responsive community support services to promote mental health prevention, early identification and recovery from mental illness.

Aims and objectives of service.

To enable individuals to maintain and improve their mental well-being and/or recover from mental illness through greater access to preventative services in the local community.

To promote service user independence through building of individual emotional, social and economic resilience, development of peer support and facilitation of engagement with mainstream services.

To raise the concept of well-being and good mental health within an integrated care pathway.

To improve the physical health of service users with mental health concerns including active promotion of healthier lifestyles.

To support and equip service users with a range of ways to manage their own mental and physical health and well-being. To improve the sustainability of individual recovery by increasing understanding of common mental health disorders across local communities and raising awareness of sources of support.

To encourage and promote earlier help seeking behaviours.
