To revitalize the former production site of sewing machine manufacturer G.M. Pfaff AG, which went into bankruptcy in 1999, in Kaiserslautern, the city of Kaiserslautern founded the Pfaff area development company mbH Kaiserslautern (PEG). The object area within PEG's area of responsibility has an area of approximately 16.5 ha. The former industrial site is to be developed into an urban district with the uses of research and development, housing, health and sustainable energy supply.

The design planning for transport technology development is largely advanced. Engineering services for the realization of lighting and “smart” lighting are advertised.

Revitalisation of the Kaiserslautern PFAFF site, development measure EX.1.3 — Lighting and “smart” lighting of traffic routes as part of the internal development of the PFAFF site.

Engineering services according to § 56 HOAI, service phases 1-3 and 5-9, local construction supervision, special services in connection with “smart” lighting towers (needs analysis, organization, implementation and evaluation of a workshop).

The required freelance services for planning and construction supervision for standard lighting with additional smart equipment across the entire Pfaff site are necessary to ensure road safety and to examine innovative application options for the latest technical developments.

The implementation of the following smart options is conceivable:

• Possibility to switch up the lighting at specified points (start/end). After a certain period of time, the system would automatically retract to save energy, with the focus on road safety,

• BOS lighting: For emergency and rescue personnel, it can be set to “floodlight character”,

• Pedestrian counting: The data is stored on external servers of the installing company and can be viewed and downloaded via an app,

• The lighting towers can be controlled by the responsible authorities in the city of Kaiserslautern using an app,

• Emergency buttons with camera activation (accidents, crime).

Smart lighting is to be developed in a workshop (needs analysis) in order to achieve a sensible and economical execution of “smart” lighting.

The order ends at the end of the period for claims for defects by construction companies. The lighting is realized in individual construction stages.
