This User Requirement Specification (URS) details the requirements, purchase, installation, commissioning and validation of blood donor sample tube centrifuges for the National Donor Screening Laboratory (NDSL) at the Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS). The NDSL is responsible for the testing of approx. 140,000 donations per year. Each donation has 4 samples taken for testing, 1 Virology Serum red top sample tube (6 ml serum clot activator), 1 ADG Plasma purple top sample tube (6 ml K3 EDTA K3) and 2 NAT Plasma white top sample tube (6ml K2 EDTA PPT). As part of the sample pre analytical processing approximately 3000 blood donor sample tubes may require centrifugation on a daily basis.
